CLINTON, Miss. — Mississippi College (MC) has hired Dannie Waller as the new Director of the Baptist Student Union (BSU). She began her role May 4, joining Associate Director Cody Counts to round out the ministry team on the Clinton campus.
Waller has a Masters of Christian Education degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and a Bachelors of Communications degree from Samford University. Most recently serving as the Student Ministry Associate at First Baptist Church, Tupelo, she has helped lead student ministries throughout Texas and Mississippi.
“Dannie brings years of student ministry experience, including weekly worship, outreach, discipleship, and making connections with students from all walks of life,” said Counts. “Here at MC, I see her using each of those gifts and experiences to help grow the ministry at MC while continuing the goal of all BSU: to make Christ’s name known.”
A member of the Mississippi Super Summer Leadership Team since 2024 and the Discern Conference Leadership Team since 2022, Waller has a passion for connecting with and discipling the next generation.
“Dannie has a heart for reaching students and making disciples of Jesus,” said Sam Ivy, Collegiate Ministries Director at the Mississippi Baptist Convention Board. “She has strong relationships with student and college pastors across the state. She is a ‘glue’ person who people are eager to serve alongside.”
Though hired at the end of the spring semester, Waller has lost no time jumping into her new ministry position.
“I am truly so honored to have this opportunity to minister to students at MC,” said Waller. “All of the students, faculty, and staff have already been so loving and welcoming as I step into this new role, and I am so excited to get to join in ministry with them.”
Waller joins the MC BSU team as they recently celebrated a milestone of 100 years of campus ministry.
“The Lord has already used this ministry on this campus and beyond in mighty ways and I cannot wait to see how the Lord will continue to move in the years to come!” said Waller.
“I’m excited to see how Dannie is going to help lead the charge as we enter this next chapter for MC BSU,” agreed Counts.
