Mississippians gather at SBC Annual Meeting in New Orleans
NEW ORLEANS (Special) – More than 300 people attended the Mississippi Baptist Convention fellowship time June 13 at the Annual Meeting of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) in New Orleans, according to Jon Martin, men’s ministry director at the Mississippi Baptist Convention Board (MBCB).
“There are a lot of very important things that we do as we meet together as a convention once a year,” said Martin. “One of the most valuable things is gathering together with Mississippi Baptists to fellowship and encourage one another.

“Fellowshipping together as Mississippi Baptists reminds us that we not only are connected as Southern Baptists, but we are also partners in ministry in our great state. This is the highlight of my Southern Baptist Convention experience each year.
“Mississippi Baptists have the best pastors and staff in the world, and to be able to spend an evening catching up, laughing and sharing joys in ministry is a special moment,” Martin said.
MBCB Executive Director-Treasurer Shawn Parker added, “I’m thankful for everyone who attended our Mississippi reception in New Orleans. A genuine fellowship and authentic love for our Lord was evident in the room, and that’s why I appreciate Mississippi Baptists so deeply.
“I’m praying those who attended the SBC will be renewed for the work of the Gospel in their respective church settings,” he said.
