Mom claims daughter’s teachers, principal concealed effort to manipulate youngster to change genders

SPREKELS, Calif. (Special) – A California mother is taking on the local school district, alleging her sixth-grade daughter’s teachers and principal secretly attempted to convince the girl that she was of a gender other than her birth gender.

Jessica Konen made the allegation against the Sprekels Union School District, located about 65 miles south of San Jose, under California’s Government Claims Act.

“Respondents implemented a policy at Buena Vista [Middle School] that circumvents parental notification and involvement in the critical decision regarding students’ gender identity and expression,” according to the complaint filed by Konen and daughter, who was not identified due to her status as a minor child.

“Pursuant to this [school] policy, Respondents concealed from Ms. Konen information regarding A.G.’s assertion of a new gender identity, different from that associated with her sex at birth, and expression of that new identity, including but not limited to her assumption of a new name, use of new pronouns, and use of unisex restrooms that were otherwise reserved for teachers,” the complaint states.

“It made me extremely angry, and now I’m taking action for that,” Konen told the Fox & Friends show Jan. 25 on Fox News cable network. “I’m going to make sure that this doesn’t happen anymore.”

The mother and daughter “respectfully request that the Spreckels Union School District accept these claims and award appropriate damages against Respondents to the fullest extent allowed under the law,” according to the complaint.

The Center for American Liberty in Mount Airy, Md., and San Francisco attorney Harmeet Dhillon are representing Konen and her daughter. To view the full compliant, click here.
