Payton Boyd has been elected to serve as Baptist Student Union director at Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Wesson. Boyd begins his service there Dec. 1.
“Payton has a profound appreciation of the church, BSU, and college students,” said Sam Ivy, Director of Collegiate Ministries at the Mississippi Baptist Convention Board. “He currently serves part-time at First Church, Summit, where he oversees a college ministry of 60+ students on a weekly basis. He was deeply involved as a student as Southwest Mississippi Community College with the BSU as was his wife, Kaymie, who is very supportive of God leading their family in this direction.”
Boyd graduated in 2020 from North Pike High School. He has an Associate of Arts degree from Southwest Mississippi Community College, graduated from Southwest Mississippi Electrical Lineman Technology, and is currently a student at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. His work experience includes being an assistant with John Roberts Electrical, an intern at First Church, Summit, an MDR Apprentice Lineman, and with Paul Jackson & Sons.
“I have genuine heart for college ministry, as it played a huge role in my own walk with the Lord,” said Boyd. “With 3+ years experience in church ministry, as well as a previously active student within my church and college campus, I am confident of my abilities to serve in this position. I seek to increase the organization’s presence on campus through discipleship, frequent events and service, authentic relationships, and a sincere, passionate love for the Lord.”
Boyd is already serving as interim BSU director at Copiah-Lincoln.
