Messengers from Mississippi Baptist Convention (MBC) churches across the state opened the Oct. 24 morning session of the 2023 Annual Meeting in the worship center of First Church, Jackson, with the election of a new president to succeed Lloyg Sweatt, pastor of Meadowood Church, Amory, who is completing his second and final term.
Results of the election will be announced during the Oct. 24 afternoon session of the Annual Meeting, which begins at 1:30 p.m., and can be streamed here. The Oct. 24 afternoon session will also include:
— presentation of the proposed 2024 Cooperative Program budget for the ministries of the Mississippi Baptist Convention Board, by budget committee chairman Greg Warnock, pastor of First Church, Brookhaven.
— election of down ballot MBC officials.
— a concert by the Mississippi Singing Churchmen.
— the highly-anticipated report of the Sexual Abuse Response Team, chaired by Brad Eubank, senior pastor of First Church, Petal.
