GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) — Officials confirm at least two people are injured and one person is dead after a shooting stemming from a domestic dispute in Gulfport on Saturday afternoon. According to investigators, the incident took place around 2:05 p.m. during the end of a church gathering at Jack and Florence Goldin Park. The gathering was for a family Easter egg hunt being held by Empowerment Ministries Christian Center. One victim identified by the church as Eddie Shed, a deacon and head of the church’s security, was shot while attempting to intervene. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Church members say Shed was trying to protect children when he was shot. “He died a hero doing what he does best, and that’s protecting and that’s loving and that’s looking out for everyone,” said fellow church member Alexis Weathersby. “He was just a wonderful man that was willing to do any and everything for anyone.”
