Pace receives unanimous vote
to be Southeastern president
WAKE FOREST, N.C. (BP) — Trustees of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary voted unanimously April 21 to install Scott Pace as the entity’s seventh president. He will officially succeed Daniel Akin on July 31. Southeastern Board Chair Carlos Goodrich pointed to Pace’s “love for the local church” and “heart for equipping pastors, missionaries and ministry leaders” during his time as provost as indications the incoming president will carry on the school’s identity as “the Great Commission Seminary.” “Southeastern has a strong foundation, and Dr. Pace brings both continuity with that foundation and the vision needed to lead the seminary forward in fulfilling its mission of training the next generation of ministry leaders,” he said. Pace will continue serving as provost, a role he’s held since June 2023, while adding the new title of president-elect. He will be officially inaugurated at the board of trustees’ fall meeting.
