Everyone is invited to attend the 2024 State Evangelism Conference on January 28-29 at Northcrest Church in Meridian starting at 6:00 p.m. Sunday and concluding Monday at 7:30 p.m. Speakers include Shane Pruitt, Ron Meeks, Bob Pitman, Jamie Dew, Tom Richter, and Steve Gaines — godly men whom Mississippi Baptists know and value — that will teach on the theme of Impacting Mississippi with the Gospel.
Don Lum, Director of Evangelism at the Mississippi Baptist Convention Board (MBCB), commented on his prayer for the gathering, “Our goal is that we can leave Northcrest on Monday evening feeling refreshed, having heard a word from God, having a keen sense of what God is calling us to do, and re-energized so that we will literally be on the frontlines of leading our churches and helping them focus on what God’s called us to do: and that is to impact our communities with the Gospel.”
“This is not just for pastors,” Lum emphasized. “We want everyone to come. We’d love for pastors to bring people with them from their churches. What a phenomenal thing for a pastor to bring folks with him and for his church members to go back home energized, encouraged, and passionate about sharing Jesus. It would be a great thing for Mississippi.”
Along with Spirit-driven exhortation from experienced evangelists, the conference will hold a time of worship led by Paul Davis, Worship Pastor of Northcrest Church, and a session at noon on Monday led by Shane Pruitt that is specifically geared toward encouraging student ministers to reach Mississippi students with the Gospel.
Set aside time to come. Maybe there is a person God has placed in your path who needs to hear the Gospel and you do not feel equipped to share it. Come and learn how God equips us for that calling. Maybe you have planted seeds in someone’s life for many years but have yet to see a harvest. Come and see how God is not slow in keeping His promise and that He does not want anyone to perish, but everyone to repent (2 Peter 3:9). Set aside time to come so that the Spirit may encourage you in obeying the command to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19).
Evangelism is not a responsibility held only by pastors, but by every disciple of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
