IMB to host mission partnership event in Madison

Pastors and church leaders, mark your calendars for Feb. 1, 2025, for a one-day International Mission Board (IMB) event at First Church, Madison. Meet with missionaries and IMB representatives from around the world and discover how to plug into missions with other churches across Mississippi.

The IMB wants to partner with and serve the local church as churches are where missionaries are sent out. At “Together for the Nations”, the focus will be on the problem of lostness and the solution of the Gospel, as speakers will discuss the missionary task, a panel of pastors and leaders will share their missional practices, and breakout sessions will dive into mission opportunities.

“One of the things I hope people know,” commented D. Ray Davis, leader of the IMB church mobilization team, “is that we are not looking to partner with large churches. We’re looking to partner with churches. Missionaries come out of churches. I came out of a small church, Dr. Chitwood came out of a very small church. It’s not about the size and the resources you bring. Those things are important, but they are not ultimate. What is really important is the DNA of that church. A church that becomes mobilized begins to fire on all cylinders like praying, giving, going, and sending.”

“‘Together for the Nations’ is an amazing opportunity for our MS churches, for our pastors, and for our missions leaders,” said Chad McCord, Director of Missions Mobilization at the Mississippi Baptist Convention Board (MBCB). “I encourage pastors and missions leaders to not just bring themselves, but to bring a student who’s considering missions and bring your missions committee chairman and anyone in your church that would benefit from this. We want our MS Baptists to show out and be there.”

A registration fee of $25 covers a delicious lunch and event materials. Register at: Home – Together for the Nations: Mississippi.
