Jason Marshall, associate pastor at Calvary Church, Tupelo, has been called to serve as camp manager at Central Hills Baptist Retreat. He will begin his work there April 1.
“Jason will bring a renewed passion for camp and retreat ministry to the Camp Manager role,” said Dwayne Parker, Director, Discipleship/Sunday School Department, Mississippi Baptist Convention Board.
“He brings a wealth of administrative and relational skills along with his enthusiasm. What excites me most is how he will work with and relate to the current and Summer Staff. The current staff have faithfully demonstrated their commitment to Central Hills over the past 10 months, and I am eager to see them work alongside Jason as they continue to build the ministry.”
Marshall holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Church Related Ministry from Blue Mountain Christian University and a Master of Christian Education degree from Mid-America Seminary, Memphis. He was licensed to the gospel ministry in 1994 and was ordained in 1996.
Prior to his service at Calvary Church, he was student and recreation minister at First Church, Corinth; student and recreation minister at Chatham Church, Chatham, Illinois; college and recreation minister at Trinity Church, Southaven; and music and youth minister at Center Church, New Albany.
As manager at Central Hills, he will be responsible for developing positive relationships, external and internal; supervise all personnel relating to the year round operation of the facility; oversee the daily operation of the facility; develop and recommend policies, procedures, and systems for the most effective operation of the facility; and negotiate service contracts and purchase supplies and equipment as needed; and a host of other administrative duties.
“Over the past two months, we have seen an overwhelming response from churches registering for summer camp, which indicates that summer camp ministry remains vital to our churches for teaching, sharing the gospel, and discipling children,” said Dwayne Parker. “I look forward to passing the torch to and working with Jason in the days and years to come. Under Jason’s leadership, I believe the future of Central Hills is bright. Mississippi Baptists are in excellent hands when it comes to camp ministry.”
“Jason brings the experience of a longtime student minister, the insights of a lifelong Mississippi Baptist, and the passion of someone who has been personally impacted by camping ministry,” said Mississippi Baptist Executive Director-Treasure Shawn Parker. “I’m excited about his vision for Central Hills, and I’m looking forward to the way the Lord is going to use him to impact the work of the MBCB.
“I’d ask everyone to pray for Jason and his family during this transition as he’ll hit the ground running to prepare for this summer’s camping season.”
