Ministry Assistants Conference & Training invites helping hands to take a break from the desk

Behind the scenes of a church sits a fast-typing, quick-thinking ministry assistant, happy to help her pastor and ready to write those reminders. But even she grows tired and weary, and the deskwork gets weighty. Not to mention the ever-changing world of technology, strategy, and workflow with which she must keep up.

From March 18th – 19th, the 2024 Ministry Assistants Conference & Training will gather at the Garaywa Camp & Conference Center in Clinton for refreshing fellowship, effective training sessions, helpful Q&A’s, and more.

Hosted by the Mississippi Baptist Ministry Assistants Association (MBMAA) and the Leadership Department of the Mississippi Baptist Convention Board (MBCB), the conference invites all church and associational ministry assistants to attend, and serves as a time of fellowship, sharing, and personal and professional enrichment. (You do not have to be a member of the MBMAA in order to come). Ministry assistants network with one another, share “best practices,” and learn the latest methods for positively impacting their ministry field. Training sessions help ministry assistants sharpen their abilities as they minister in the church, associations, or agencies across our state.

Conference leaders include speaker and writer, Laura Leathers, who will give a message from the ever-encouraging Word of God; the singing trio, Promised, who will lead the worship sessions in praise; knowledgeable Financial Ministry Assistant, Rita Hodges, who will guide her group through “Basic Church Finances”; experienced Ministry Assistant, Benita Gruchy, who will teach a session on “Canva Basics”; Bible study leader, Sara Renich, who will train on “Scripture Study” and diving deeper into God’s Word; and longtime Ministry Assistants Specialist for LifeWay Christian Resources, now church consultant, Sandra Sartor, will lead a session on the ins and outs of “Event Planning.”

Elizabeth Lindigrin-Hancock, Ministry Assistant in the Leadership Department and an organizer of the Ministry Assistants Conference & Training, said, “This conference is a great time to meet other ministry assistants and learn from the training sessions in areas that would be useful for your job. But we’ll also have time for crafts, door prizes, fun contests, and just good fellowship.”
