Missing pastor’s wife possibly spotted in DeSoto County

Memphis, Tn. (Special) – The search is continuing for the wife of a Kansas Baptist pastor who vanished Aug. 2 in the Memphis area while en route alone to Birmingham to visit family.

Marilane Carter, 36, wife of Adam Carter, pastor of Leawood Church in Leawood, Kan., last had contact with her family by cell phone in the vicinity of the Interstate 55 bridge in Memphis, according to news reports.

A possible sighting of the mother of three young children was reported Aug. 3 in DeSoto County in Mississippi, which borders Memphis to the south.

“I just told our three kids to pray for Mommy. We’re going to find her. It might take a few days,” Adam Carter told WMC-TV in Memphis. He has been in Memphis since her disappearance and canvassed the DeSoto County area after the possible sighting at a gas station.

“We showed them pictures of her and they felt like they had definitely seen her,” Adam Carter told WMC-TV.

Marilane Carter is five feet, eight inches tall and weighs about 130 pounds, according to police in Overland Park, Kan., where the Carters reside. She has green eyes and long brown hair. She was last seen wearing a green T-shirt and black yoga pants.
