Mississippi Baptists make special gift to Lottie

PASCAGOULA, Miss. (Special) – Generous giving last year by Mississippi Baptists has enabled a special gift in the amount of $718,450 to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions.

The gift was presented to Paul Chitwood, president of Southern Baptists’ International Mission Board (IMB) in Richmond, Va., by Shawn Parker, executive director-treasurer of the Mississippi Baptist Convention Board (MBCB), during the Missions Mobilization Weekend in late January at First Church, Pascagoula.

The special gift from Mississippi Baptists represents the portion of the 2021 Mississippi Cooperative Program challenge funds allotted to IMB. The challenge portion of the budget is the amount of gifts to the Cooperative Program each year that are over and above the established MBCB budget.

The special challenge funds gift is in addition to the $5,461,385 that was already committed to IMB in the 2021 Mississippi Cooperative Program budget.

“I’m deeply thankful for the outstanding leadership Dr. Paul Chitwood is providing for the International Missions Board,” Parker said. “I’m thrilled we could present a gift in behalf of all Mississippi Baptists in the amount of $718,450 for the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. I’m thankful we can all work together to reach the nations.”
