Anchored International, a ministry focused on providing an immersive 3-month training program for future missionaries, announced May 19 that former International Mission Board President Jerry Rankin has joined their leadership team.

Rankin, who served as IMB president for 17 years before retiring, has been named alongside his wife, Joy, as the group’s directors of strategic growth.

“We are thrilled and deeply honored to announce that Dr. Jerry & Joy Rankin have joined Anchored International,” announced Jeremy Taliaferro, co-founder and CEO with his wife, Susan, in a Facebook post. “During his remarkable 17-year tenure as president of the International Mission Board, Dr. Rankin revolutionized global missions strategy, overseeing the deployment of thousands of missionaries and pioneering innovative approaches to reaching unreached people groups.

“Under his visionary leadership, the IMB:
• expanded its global missionary force to over 5,000 personnel,
• engaged hundreds of unreached people groups,
• transformed missions strategy for the 21st century,
• established groundbreaking partnerships worldwide.”

Vision

Taliaferro, a former IMB missionary, announced the new organization May 13.

“With 22 years of missionary experience across South America & Africa, Jeremy & Susan are the heart behind Anchored International,” he noted in a Facebook post. “Their vision? To revolutionize missionary training by combining hands-on experience with deep spiritual formation. From church planting to bushcraft skills, they’ve lived it all!”
