Nick Smith has been called to serve as Director of Baptist Student Union Ministry at Northeast Mississippi Community College, with service beginning June 1.

Smith holds an Associate of Arts degree from East Central Community College, a Bachelor of Science degree from Mississippi University for Women, and a Master of Theological Studies from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Smith currently serves as campus missionary at East Mississippi Community College and at the Mississippi University for Women. He also serves as pastor of youth and young adults at Springhill Church, Millport, Ala.

“I have had the blessing of engaging in BSU since my freshman year in 2018,” Smith writes. “The Lord has placed a love of one-to-one discipleship and missions. God has ignited a passion for seeing the people of Mississippi love and desire Christ in a profound, passionate way. I also have a passion for seeing God glorified in the world’s unreached nations and the gospel preached to those who have never heard.”

Sam Ivy, Director of Collegiate Ministries, Mississippi Baptist Convention Board, said, “I am excited to welcome Nick Smith to the BSU Family! He has a profound appreciation for BSU ministry as a product of Mississippi BSU as a student and former summer missionary. I am thankful for Wayne Vandiver’s [who is retiring] 40 years of service in BSU ministry. It cannot be overstated how God has used Bro. Wayne to invest in the lives of thousands of college-students over his four decades as a BSU Director at Itawamba Community College and Northeast Mississippi Community College.”
