More than 1,000 high school seniors, teachers and counselors from the Pine Belt gathered at William Carey University on Nov. 6 to attend the Pine Belt College Fair.
The students met with recruiters from colleges and universities in Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, Tennessee, and Arkansas. Army, Navy, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, and Space Force personnel were also on hand to answer questions.
“William Carey has hosted the Pine Belt College Fair for almost 20 years. In that time, it’s grown to be a really large event. We’re glad to have the opportunity to talk to college-bound seniors about the opportunities at Carey – and to invite other schools because students want to be able to consider a variety of options,” said Dr. Wes Dykes, associate vice president for recruitment.
Dykes is also dean of the Winters School of Music, which posted its largest enrollment in school history this fall.
All three Southern Baptist-affiliated schools were represented – William Carey University, Mississippi College, and Blue Mountain Christian University. New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary also sent a recruiter to the event.
